Master Programme in International Social Welfare and Health Policy

* Provides the foundation for a career in professional field of social welfare and health
* Takes place in Oslo 29th of August, 2011 till June 2012
* Small classes of students from around the globe experience three interactive semesters in Oslo
* Internationally-acclaimed scholars teach courses ranging from international health, risk theory and globalization to foundational research methods and scientific theory
* Comparative focus allows students to develop a tool set for analysis in professional fields and within many fields of research, as well as to learn more about a selected country of focus for one’s own research – as well as to learn more about one’s home country
* Students receive supervision September 2011
* Students completing program receive 90 ECTS credits in one year
* Recent students completing the programme have found positions in research institutes, foreign embassies, welfare organizations, and NGOs
* Tuition for courses is free - only minimal fees required. Reasonably priced student housing is available
* For those students not in the EU, part-time work visas can be provided for program participants to take part in Norway’s healthy labor market
* All instruction is in English


GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have two years work experience from social welfare or health-related jobs (working, for example, for interest organizations, NGOs, as a social worker, or in a hospital setting) taken after completion of a bachelor degree in the social sciences or related field.

 

QUALIFIES PARTICIPANTS FOR:

* Positions in social and health services requiring a systematic evaluation of social and health service strategies and a comparative knowledge of international health and social welfare
* Employment in agencies, NGOs, or voluntary organisations engaged in international health and social welfare programmes, developmental assistance, etc.
* Teaching positions in educational programmes for social workers and workers in related health professions
* Doctoral degree programmes in comparative or international social welfare and health policy fields

HOW TO APPLY

The application form for 2011-2012 is now open for foreign applicants. This group includes applicants with a foreign bachelor's degree residing in Norway who have an id. number.

Application deadlines
15th of December, 2010.  Students with foreign bachelor's degree. Note! The application form will remain open until the 15th of January. Please apply as soon as possible.

15th of April, 2011.  Students with a nordic bachelor (NB! The electronic application for this group will be open in February, 2011).
